Chicago aims to license promoters

If you think that promoters have got it bad in Manchester then you should feel sorry those in the states. The US has a history of coming down hard on promoters, but the city of Chicago is taking it one step further with the potential introduction of promoter licenses. Anyone putting on an event - and this includes arts and cultural events - has to be licensed by the city.
