Sankeys expands, birthday plans and aftershow launch

Now that Warehouse Project season is upon us, you'd expect Sankeys to prepare a straw-filled box for a turtoise-like hibernation period. Not so, in fact the club expects even more clubbers to pass through their doors, and they need more space!

They plan to make the first floor even bigger, which will take the capacity upstairs to 350 with a total of 1,150 patrons across over both floors.

Sankeys First Birthday

It's been a whole years since Sankeys dropped the 'Soap' from it's name, and they're planning a weekend of festivities.

Danny Tenaglia and Greg Vickers play at an all-dayer on Sunday 23rd September (Starts at 3pm).

And Finally....

Danny McNamara's long awaited 'Aftershow' will be launching on Thursday 13th September. It's an ambitious night that will provide seven hours of indie music across all three rooms. Visit their Myspace Page, if only to listen to the brilliant track by freerunner.

The event's been hyped in The Sun (see right), The Star, the MEN and the City Life property mag. Gonna be tough getting the students out to Ancoats on a Thursday night, and even tougher launching the night before the freshers have even arrived, but it'd be great if he could pull this off...

Here's the line-ups for the first three events:

Thursday 13th September
Very Special Secret Guests
The Ting Tings
Wax Planet
Bye Bye Johnny
Embrace DJs
Clint Boon

Thursday 20th September
The Answering Machine
(We Are) Performance
The Shallow Call
The Boy Majors
Embrace DJs

Thursday 27th September
The Draytones
Gideon Conn
Twisted Wheel
The Cardinals
Embrace DJs

Danny McNamara the lead singer with Embrace, and no mean DJ to boot, has got together with some of his famous and infamous friends to continue a quest started at the Proud Galleries in Camden, Central London last year. The sold out every week, Another Music = Another Kitchen has already caught the attention of every broadsheet and style magazine because of the great bands we keep putting on every week. Look at our flyers, I kid you not.

If it's good we are there first.

We've also been splashed over every tabloid and gossip column because of the celebrities we manage to squeeze in night after night (or not as the case may be...)

Our manifesto is simple... There is no VIP area. Everyone who makes it through the doors is a very important person to us. We will put on three or four great new bands every Thursday with the emphasis on great as well as in this case... THE NORTH. The evening will begin at 8pm and finish at 3am. Throughout the night we will also showcase some of the areas best up and coming DJ's.

This is going to happen once a week, and it will never be anything less than amazing. We promise you...

Another Music = Another Kitchen (a bastardized title from a Buzzcocks album) was originally founded on the idea that a gang of northern lads could inject a sense of unpretentious fun and class into Camden's hipster club scene. We passed that test with flying colours. Now we are bringing it home to its spiritual birthplace. The live music capital of Europe, MANCHESTER...

The name of the new club is THE AFTERSHOW.

Taking the same ethos as the previous club but tailoring it to the Manchester area. It's our opinion that London has been the focal point for the music industry for far too long, while many of the best bands are born north of the Watford gap. The idea is to build a base, a focal point, a big shining beacon that says we are here. If you want it come and get it.

We also aim to turn THE AFTERSHOW into THE place to go if you have just performed a concert in the city. Bring your band and crew and friends to us and we will provide a chilled unpretentious, but most importantly hassle free space where you can wind down after your big night.
